Fishing Report For: June 21, 2010

Hello all, the fishing is great and we placed inthe tournament this weekend.

Friday was our lay day.  Saturday our first day of fishing.

We set up 100-150 fathoms in the Poormanscanyon.

A slow day, had a couple mystery bites along with three blue shark releases. We were paying attention to the calcuttas and the leader board from the day before and decided if we had another fish of a little size we would take it to the scales. Sure enough we landed a nice blue shark, went to the scale at 151 lbs. There was only one thresher shark weighed the whole tournament at 280pds.

After the second day of fishing for the tournament our blue shark had 2nd in two calcuttas.

Day 2- we tried to get a tuna to weigh in so wet rolled for 1 hour, no luck.

We set up in 40 fathoms ,had bluefish bitesright away then nice a mako about 165lbs, we released then had another mako jumping out of water nice fish 120lbs, released, next bite was a big shark, took half a spool on a 80 wide and came loose, then another bite was a short runoff.

The blue shark held its spot in tournament. We will be with our great crew at the awards banquet this afternoon to collect the winning $$.

YELLOWFINS ARE HERE, up and down the 100f line, boats are bringing in 6-12 fish in the 50lb class fish.

The previous week we had a slow bite of tuna and wahoo.

We have an overnight trip Saturday and then on to Oregon inlet next week, we'll be there until the Thanksgiving holiday. The yellowfin bite has been great off of OI.

The giant bluefins are being caught close to Chatham, Mass
Capt Sean is going north to fish with Canyon Runner of south Jersey(currently in Chatham for the giants) for a few days to check out this fishery for possible future possibilities.

We'll be sending an informational email this week about our giant bluefin fishing this December and January in Morehead City, NC

Capt Sean and me went out on an over night trip Friday night. It was rough but we stuck
to our plan. The overnight chunk was slow but we found some nice yellowfin east of the Elephant Trunk at 30 fathoms. There was a nice temperature break, we're hoping this is the start of the fall yellowfin run. We have more trips going this week, we'll keep you updated.

Cheers, Capt Todd
Fishing Report For: September 5, 2009

We fished Saturday September 5th. 11 gaffer dolphin and 1 white marlin.
Good news the yellowfin have been located moving south closer to OC.
Colder water moving south produced 150 yellowfin, wahoo and 60 white marlin.
This time of year has historically produced great fishing.
We'll ride these tuna all the way to Oregon inlet.

Cheers, Capt Sean

Fishing Report For: August 12, 2009

Hello all,

We had the boat chartered with a great crew.

Monday we went to the 500 fathom line outside the Wilmington canyon.
All indications for a good Bigeye bight were present. A lot of pilot whales birds and life.
We hung in there all day and eventually started moving towards the west.
As luck would have it, half an hour after we left two boats hooked up at 3:25 and 3:30.
Both Bigeyes placed first and third for the tournament.

Wednesday we went to the 800 square/Washington canyon, we fished for white marlin until noon,
it was rough and the baits were all over the place. We switched to lures and plugs and hooked
a big blue marlin at 1:30. The fish was 101 inches, approximately 450 lbs
too short to take to the dock, weigh in minimum length at 105 inches and 500 lbs.

On Friday, with the White Marlin category very tight, we went to the Poormans Canyon trying to bring home an even bigger blue marlin or a large bigeye. We fished lures all  day and did not have any luck.

After the tournament we fished this past Sunday on an inshore trip and
caught lots of mackeral, bluefish and seabass.

Marlin fishing is good right now, call us to book a trip if you're interested in bill fishing during the good bite.

Thanks, Capt. Todd

Fishing Report For: June 26, 2009

Capt Todd went to the Washington canyon today and the water was flat calm with no current,
We had lots of bites including tuna, blue marlin, mako shark and dolphin(mahi mahi).
He worked up the line to the Poormans canyon and ended up with 2 gaffer dolphin in the box.
The tuna bite slowed, we think it is due to the slack water movement.
The fishing is good, I wont say anything beyond that because I don't want to jinx us, fishermans' superstition.
Reports of nice(100# class) bluefin tuna moving north from waynes world off Virginia.
We're fishing Sunday, we'll send a report.
Monday we're installing a generator for air conditoning and flood lights for the over night trips.
Our schedule is filling fast, we booked two more trips today for next weekend.
Take a look at our schedule on the website and give us a call.

Thanks, Capt's Todd, Sean and Jim

TUNA Tuna

Hello anglers,

Wednesday.

We went fishing  to the Poormans at 100F and landed 30 yellowfin tunas.
6 were keepers up to 35lbs. We had one Mako(100#) bite that threw the hook after two jumps for us.
Water was 68' and tons of bait: squid.
We never had a single hookup, always 2-3 at a time, once we had six at a time.
They hit the rasta bars and naked ballyhoos.

Thursday

Went to the same spot and the yellowfin were a slow pick.
we had 5 bites with one keeper at 40#.
We moved out to 250F and hooked a 183# Bigeye, the largest landed in OC this year!

Sharks, Sharks, Sharks

We fished this past week three times and brought home one nice mako.
All three days we were covered up in Blue sharks of all sizes up to 12 feet.
The sharks were swarming the water around the boat. At one point Capt Todd actually caught one by hand and had it on the gunnel before releaseing it. Pictures and video will be posted ASAP.

We have openings for open boat trips for $325 per person total cost.

We lost our party for the OC Tuna Tournament July 10-12 and are looking for some serious tuna anglers for the tournament.

First action of the season;

Hello to all,

Sorry for the delay but we went out last Wednesday 5/20 on an overnight trip. Caught and released 6 blue sharks and broke off one Mako. The next morning we crushed the dolphin. Big gaffers, see picture. All caught near the Washington Canyon.

Saturday we went to the Baltimore canyon looking for a Bluefin tuna bite but no luck so we started chumming and caught 2 blue sharks, one of which the party brought back to the dock, see picture.

The next two weeks we'll be shark fishing and culminating the 2nd week fishing in the Mako Mania Tournament.

Cheers, Capt's Todd, Sean, Jim and Richie.

Off and Running

Restless Lady is in the water and tied up at the Talbot St. Pier. Just south of the RT50 bridge on the beach side next to M.R. Ducks.

The refurbishment went excellent. We have the very best equipment, crew and furnishings to make your fishing trip the best of your life. Check out the photos on the website.

We want to catch the maximum amount of fish that is legally permitted.

We are starting our 2009 season this saturday May 16th. We're heading offshore in search of Tuna. There is a nice patch of water near the Washington Canyon. We've had good reports from commercial fishermen that have been out to the area.

Next week we'll be going out to fill the boat with Bluefish and Mackeral for future bait usage.

The sharks will be close behind the bait. We are excited about the shark oppurtunities this year. Capt's Todd, Sean and Mate Richie all have experience catching MONSTER sharks, Mako, Threasher, Hammerhead.
We'll be fishing hard for sharks before and during the two local tournaments.

Shark fishing is a bizarre experience. The sharks are not scared of anything. They'll swim right up to the boat. Once hooked they are tough and dangerous. They jump too. Not fishing for the faint of heart.

We'll  be posting current fishing reports everyday we come in from a trip. We'll post the reports here and at a few other websites, Tidalfish.com(midatlantic offshore) and a few other sites to be determined.

We're stiil planning on fishing out of Oregan Inlet, NC for 6 weeks starting Oct1, 2009. Then we'll be in Morehead City, NC until Jan31, 2010 for Giant Bluefin Tuna.

Come see us at the Talbot St. Pier or give us a call.

Cheers, Capt. Jim Duncan

Restless Lady off season update #1

"Under new management"

Hello past, present and future anglers.

Captain Sean Welsh and myself Captain Jim Duncan have taken over ownership and operations of the Restless Lady from Captain/ Master Jeff Stewart. Jeff remains on our staff as a valued adviser.

We've assembled a staff of professional fishermen to meet our daily objectives:

CATCH OUR LIMIT OF FISH EVERYDAY ON A SAFE, COMFORTABLE VESSEL IN A RELAXED ATMOSPHERE.

Do not misunderstand the last part of our objective, we are an easy going group, BUT, we are all about killing the maximum amount of fish we legally are allowed!

Capt Todd Kurtz will be running the boat on a daily basis.  He has run Restless lady for the past two seasons and has 12 years experience captaining out of Ocean City, MD. First mate Richard Hastings has been mating Restless Lady for 14 years.

We are in the middle of refurbishing and re-outfitting the boat. New fighting chair, new 38 foot triple spreader outriggers, new paint in and out, new seating, flooring, generator, Air Conditioning, fish finder, bridge curtains, spreader lights and Shimano tiagra reels. Lots of other updates as well.

We plan on being ready to fish April 15 out of Oregon Inlet, NC for one month of Tuna fishing and then return to Ocean City for shark fishing starting May 15. We'll be in Ocean City until October, we'll go to Oregon Inlet for another month and then go to Morehead City, NC for Giant Bluefin fishing until January 31, 2010.

Call us or stop by the boat, we're in dry dock at the OC Fishing center until April and then at the Talbot Street Pier until we head for NC.

Expect the fish reports to be as up to date as our work permits, I'd like to update it every evening after fishing and discuss the plan for the next day. Our goal is to help the small/ private boat fleet as much as feasible. We'll be glad to talk to you over the phone or VHF radio regarding our plan to catch our limit.

Looking forward to hearing from you. More updates to follow and fish reports as we start wetting our lines.

Cheers, Capt Jim Duncan
